I'm Wilson Gu, a venture partner at the YTC Sino-Japan Innovation Fund, Japan Regional Director of the Asia Innovation Hub, and curator of SPACE 9—a distributed innovation and co-creation ecosystem based in Tokyo.
With 12 years of executive experience in commercial, retail, and investment banking, and nearly a decade in digital technology, innovation strategy, and startup acceleration, I specialize in building bridges between capital, emerging technologies, and policy ecosystems.
Deeply rooted in the innovation landscapes of China and Japan, I’ve also conducted in-depth field research across Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand, while cultivating strategic partnerships throughout broader Asia—including India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
My work focuses on advancing new paradigms in the digital economy, distributed leadership, ecosystem policy design, and transnational innovation. Based in Tokyo, I’m committed to shaping an Asia where ecosystems are interoperable, innovation is inclusive, and the future is co-created.

- 1982 - Born in Chongming Island, Shanghai, China.
- 1985 - Began Singing on the stage and Dancing in the ballroom.
- 1989 - Enrolled at Elementary School and began playing Music and Video Games.
- 1993 - Began Drawing Comics and Playing Billiards and Basketball.
- 1994 - Enrolled at Middle School and join the School**’s Basketball Team**.
- 1997 - Enrolled at High School and began playing Soccer.
- 2000 - Enrolled at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, majoring in Public Finance with a minor in Marketing, and began learning Japanese, Hiphop and join the University’s Football Team.
- 2004 - Joined Bank of Shanghai, Career roles from branch offices, Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, Senior Vice President of Investment Banking and Institutional Business to Head Office's Investment Banking, and joined the Table Tennis and Soccer Team.
- 2009 - Married with Dingding, got my first Canon camera and started photography activities**.**
- 2011 - My son Tommy was born.
- 2014 - Returned to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to begin a part-time postgraduate program in Venture Capital, combining academic insight with practical experience in investment and entrepreneurship.
- 2016 - Joined China Zheshang Bank as a Assistant General Manager of Capital Markets. Then Transitioned into venture investment as a partner of Champion VC at an industrial fund, focusing on the incubation and early-stage development of digital technology ventures.
- 2017 - My daughter Ivanka was born.
- 2018 - Invited to join Future China Global Forum Panel Discussion as a roundtable speaker , the subject is “How can the integrated use of virtual reality and artificial intelligence help ASEAN countries address logistical challenges in cross-border e-commerce trade with China?” in Singapore. Invited to attend Thailand DEPA Global Digital Contents Fair.
